Musical world traveller Laurent Jeanneau AKA Kink Gong recently wrapped up a lengthy sound-gathering mission in China and Tibet that focussed on the meditative sounds of Chang Fo Ji. Chang Fo Ji are small plastic boxes with Buddhist prayer loops commonly referred to as “Buddha Machines,” which are essentially battery powered, portable prayer devices. Between 2006 and 2011, Kink Gong has collected recordings from various machines and now, he’s compiled them into a release for Discrepant Records.
