Back in 2014, Unsound Festival debuted Ephemera: a “synesthetic installation in which perfumes were inspired by, and presented with different genres and sounds of electronic music.” In keeping with the festival’s affinity for heavy frequencies, correlating sounds and smells came in three forms: Bass, developed by Kode9, Drone, created with Tim Hecker, and Noise, as imagined by Ben Frost. Honestly, there’s not much more you can ask for when it comes to lusty, no-nonsense scents. The Ephemera collections now includes scented candles in the same heavily ritualistic vein, perfect for creating holiday atmosphere with a little edge.
