Amsterdam has upped the number of ecstasy pills a person can carry without being charged with possession from one to five for the duration of ADE, which runs though the weekend. Not all politicians are thrilled about the implementation of more lenient policy; as People’s Party for Freedom & Democracy (VVD) chairman Marja Ruigrok told Dutch TV station AT5, “It is strange that we are so much more generous in Amsterdam… I find five pills too much for one person.”
A warning was issued earlier this month concerning a batch of pills stamped with the ADE logo that contained extremely high levels of MDMA and were linked to overdoses. Drug-testing and information centers are maintaining pop-up stations throughout the city, and more information can be found here.
