Good news from New York’s RVNG label: Chicago weird-house/techno mainstay Hieroglyphic Being has announced a new album called We Are Not The First. The whole record is credited to “Hieroglyphic Being and the J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Bul,” and it took us a while to figure out that’s a phonetic spelling of “ensemble,” as the record was made in conjunction with a bunch of other musicians including Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra, New York City singer/performer/Composer Shelley Hirsch, sound artist Ben Vida and Liturgy drummer Greg Fox, among others. It’s due out on October 30, but RVNG has already revealed one of the tracks, “Civilization That Is Dying,” as a “visual single.” Like all of Hieroglyphic Being’s work, it’s a blend of madness and genius.
