Her upcoming debut EP Dissonance is a transfixing blend of dystopian-romantic pop welded to industrial rawness, all written, mixed and recorded by Kanga herself. Now, after the pounding aggression of “Vital Signs“, the second glimpse of this excellent debut is premiering here.
The haunted ambience of “Tension” builds on slow, pulsing beats and swirling, siren-like synths, with heavy layers of sound embracing the listener in waves of cold. Reminiscent of a latter-day Cranes, Kanga’s vocals slip through these layers like the memory of a stiletto, dreamlike yet dominant. Let it take you over.
