In conjunction with its recent tour, which included shows at London’s Tate Modern and the Sydney Opera House, pioneering German electronic unit Kraftwerk is planning to release an album this fall. As Ralf Hütter, the group’s last remaining original member, told Rolling Stone:
“We translated our performances to 3D, and in surround sound, kind of like 3D sound. We’ve put a lot of work into all the images, transforming from our Kling Klang archives into 3D format and arranging it synchronized with the music, so it’s quite a lot of production.”
Kraftwerk will tour North America starting in September, at which point Hütter says the project should be completed, but official word is still forthcoming. Hütter also speaks about Kraftwerk’s relationship with Detroit; read more here.
