John Cohen’s Dead Fader alias is always a reliable source for interesting and aggressive sound textures; still reliving fond memories of a particularly destructive set in a fog-shrouded warehouse party a few years ago. The Berlin-based producer’s fourth LP Glass Underworld hits new peaks of introspective ferocity. Inspired by Christopher Nolan’s film Interstellar as well as that trope of all tropes—love—, the LP brushes against IDM by way of industrialized electronics; dance music for alien bodies, ballads for extra-dimensional romances. The glasslike throb of LP cut “Too Busy” has been given a whirling video treatment steeped in the aesthetics of ’70s-era film hypnagogia. This video was given to us, and now we give it to you for your pleasure.

Glass Underworld is out now on Robot Elephant Records.
