RIAA CEO Vents Against YouTube and Spotify In Latest Report
The numbers are in on the US music industry’s 2015 revenue. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), while revenue in general rose by 0.9%, “the consumption of music is skyrocketing, but revenues for creators have not kept pace.” That’s largely thanks to YouTube and Spotify, as streaming services generated $385 million compared to the heftier $416 million generated by vinyl sales.
