A sad day for the world of cinema as a true legend of modern animation, Makiko Futaki, has died at age 57. Futaki began her work at seminal animation house Studio Ghibili in 1981 where she collaborated on modern anime touchstones including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.
