These are the tracks fueling the lo-fi house explosion.
Lo-fi house began as a creative stand against the slick aesthetics and high-quality production sheen that had shaped house music since the late ’90s. Despite its rather humble ambitions (and good intentions), listeners and a trigger-happy media—eager to label anything slightly different as daring—turned the largely internet-based phenomenon into one of 2016’s “Next Big Things”. But what exactly is this thing? Well, fortunately, Bandcamp Daily has a great overview with notes and full audio clips that cover everything from Mall Grab to DJ Seinfeld plus others like Florian Kupfer whose raw production techniques first influenced the lo-fi turn. Give the primer a read here.
