Finally, what might be the definitive music documentary on UK’s acid house scene will soon be available to a wider audience. The trailer to “They Call It Acid”, which features amazing original footage from the early days of UK rave, a long list of high profile interviewees from Derrick May to Carl Cox to A Guy Called Gerald and Terry Farley and—to top it all off—Chicago house legend Robert Owens as narrator, has been around for quite some time, but the whole movie was never released. A couple of days ago “They Call It Acid” director Gordon Mason announced on the film’s Facebook page that, starting tomorrow, September 1st, he will start a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo “enabling you to pre-buy a copy of the film on DVD or Bluray anywhere in Europe.” We can’t wait—hell, it’s a genre so sick even John Frusciante became a convert.
