Earlier this summer, two Dutch filmmakers from Amsterdam launched an international cycling voyage that might take them as far as Asia. They’re sustaining themselves on the road by making videos for people in exchange for food and board, and that’s how they enountered Japanese vibraphone player Masayoshi Fujita. In a film shot during their time together, Fujita—who you might know from his work as El Fog—describes his transition from living in Japan to Berlin and the inspiration he takes from the city. It’s soundtracked by “Tears of Unicorn,” a meditative cut from Fujita’s forthcoming album Apologues that will appear on September 11 via Erased Tapes. Check out the premiere of “The Vibraphonist” here, and keep up with the video creators’ adventures here.
