Electronic Beats’ new Sessions series is based on the art of collaboration. Throughout the year we will present artists and bands with the opportunity to unite under one simple rule: that they’ve never collaborated before. After spending a few days in the studio writing new tracks, they’ll perform them in an intimate session exclusively in front of the EB.TV cameras.

For the first episode, French madman dOP and Stuttgart’s Rework trio seemed like a great choice, and the three tracks they produced were as fascinating as we expected. “We didn’t really know what to expect from this collaboration to be honest,” said Daniel Varga of Rework. “We are definitely more introverted and reserved than the guys from dOP. They figured that out pretty fast though and occasionally nudged us to let loose and go with the flow, which really helped.” The group typically produces in shifts, according to Sasha Hedgehog, who compared the whole experience to “being at camp.”

“We had a couple of ideas, basically loops, prepared in our studio in Stuttgart before we came to Berlin,” added the trio’s Michael Kübler. “It was fun to work with them. To see our different approaches to writing and producing music at play. The final result definitely sounds unlike anything us or dOP would normally produce, and I think that’s a good thing.” Enjoy their performance, which was filmed behind closed doors at Salon Zur Wilden Renate in Berlin.
