The Austrian capital had a happening rave scene.
Vienna is probably not the first city you think of when you think of ’90s rave destinations. After all, cities like London, Berlin and New York tend to enjoy most of the cultural capital from dance music’s nascent golden years.
But as the video below shows, Vienna’s subculture clearly got pretty swept up in the madness (and definitely the fashion). The television segment goes behind the scenes to talk to some of the earliest producers, DJs and ravers from the Viennese scene.
Judging from the video, it seems the parties could get pretty insane, although the narrator seems more impressed that kids could make music in headphones without disturbing their neighbors. How civil!
