This short documentary shines a light on the by-definition illusive genre that emerged from tumblr and messages boards around 2010. While hard to define, it’s possible to draw a line between artists who were responsible for vaporwave‘s development over the years. There are the early forefathers like Oneohtrix Point Never and James Ferraro, there’s the time vaporwave broke with Macintosh Plus’ epic track “Floral Shoppe,” and there are the countless projects still milking the aesthetic nowadays. If you have no idea what you just read, this 22-minute documentary is an essential watch.
