Boxout.fm Broadcasts India's Dance Music Underground To The World

India is not known as a hub for underground music, but that could soon change.

Underground dance music culture is spreading all over the world at an unprecedented rate. One of the consequences of that spread is a proliferation of online radio stations dedicated to local communities. Boxout.fm is a new station in India—the first of its kind—that focuses on the Indian scene. According to the site’s founders, Boxout.fm exists “to meet its community’s needs, to help it grow and thrive, and to present a carefully curated perspective on India’s rapidly emerging music and cultural scene.” We’ve been listening in and so far we’ve heard everything from local reggae DJs to live electronic jams by Sid Vashi. Tune in here. Watch some of their “Boxout Sessions” here.
