How To Have A Eurorack Modular Synth On Your Laptop For Free

Who needs hardware when software is this good?

Not all of us can afford a physical modular synthesizer, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all have access to wild sounds and modular fun. Automatonism is a software program that emulates the familiar and popular Eurorack system. It’s not the first, but it’s definitely the cheapest: It’s free!

Created in the Pure Data open source programming language, Automatonism contains a massive 67 modules. It allows for a wide degree of modifications and tweaking. Check out the introduction video below, and then grab yourself a copy of the software here.

You’ll need a copy of Pure Data to run the software, but that is also free, so there’s no excuse for not making some sweet modular music tonight!
