Listen To An Astonishing New Tech That Can Mimic Your Voice

What happens when the robots can sound just like you?

Artificial intelligence will soon be able to perfectly replicate any voice on command. Montreal-based startup Lyrebird has developed a voice-imitation algorithm that is so good that it’s startling.

The Lyrebird algorithm can mimic a voice after only a few dozen seconds of  pre-recorded audio, and it can work in real time. It scans audio for patterns in human speech and the subtle varieties in tone and timbre that make up each speaker’s vocal DNA. While the tech is still in its infant stages—and its robotic origin are still noticeable—it points to a very obvious (and creepy) near-future.

Listen to Lyrebird take on the voices of Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as proof below. You can hear more tests with intonation here and read more about the technology here.
