These Psychedelic Album Covers Use Tricks To Trip Out Your Eyes

Just what is the moiré effect anyway?

Operating in similar way to a strobe light, the moiré effect tricks your eyes into seeing patterns that look like they are moving. The effect is simple but eye-catching, so it’s no surprise that many artists have employed the effect for use on record sleeves.

Prolific record collector and producer DJ Food is a fan of the LPs that use this effect. He likes them so much, in fact, that he recently compiled some of his favorite moiré sleeves together to create a column for Vinyl Factory.
