Why Do Dogs Like Reggae So Much?

And why are we not surprised?

It’s pretty hard to not enjoy the pure vibes of dancehall and reggae. Jamaican music is just ridiculously awesome. And it turns out that our canine friends agree.

According to a study conducted by the Scotland SPCA and the University of Glasgow, dogs’ moods are greatly effected by the music they hear. Five genres were played to dogs, including Motown, pop and classical, and while each dog displayed its own individual taste, they all responded particularly positively to reggae and soft rock. Among other things, listening to reggae led to a noticeable decrease in stress levels. So next time you see your dog sleepy and droopy eyed to the sounds of that Horace Andy record you’ve got spinning, you’ll know why.
