These are the essential cuts from Erol Alkan’s seminal London party, Trash.
Sometimes it feels like just yesterday the whole world was being rocked by the tidal wave of enthusiasm brought on by electroclash, dance punk and blog house. But it’s actually been almost 20 years. Way back when, one of the major forces pushing that explosion along in clubland was Erol Alkan’s Trash party, which ran from 1997 to 2007. It brought together the many disparate elements that made this moment such a vibrant time. To commemorate the party, Alkan has put together a Facebook page for the defunct party and has also shared a Spotify playlist that captures the spirit of the night. Check it out below.
