Program your own drums sounds (using real drums) with this monolithic installation.

Bigger may not always be better, but we’d definitely love to have this giant-sized Roland replica in our homes. Originally developed in 2012 by the Sonic Robots collective as directed by Moritz Simon Geist, the MR-808 was recently upgraded to be a collective interactive learning tool. The audience programs the machine and learn rhythmic patterns as the music gradually emerges, with the original 808 sounds replaced by physical devices and mechanics.

Get more insight into the process behind the MR-808 here, and for more giant tech, well, it doesn’t get any bigger than the world’s largest synthesizer.
