Glasgow Heads' Favorite DJ Talks Dealing With Club Machismo
Earlier this week, BBC published a video profile of library assistant-slash-rising Glasgow DJ Cleoslaptra. As fellow Scottish selector Emma Blake tells the camera, Cleoslaptra’s “got a reputation among people who like to think about what they’re dancing to,” which makes sense, as she seems to think a lot about dance music herself. In the clip above, she explains her love for science fiction, Glasgow’s innate kinship with techno and her struggles with misogyny in clubland. “These are things that we’ve thought about for years but only now are confident enough to speak up about it,” she says. Hear hear!
With any luck, the Glasgow students making a documentary about the city’s underground techno scene with no female interview subjects will hear that.
