Spice up your day with this mix spliced from tapes of seminal ’80s wave radio broadcasts.
When underground fixture Felix Kubin is laying praise to a life in music, you know you’ve done something pretty darn special. In this NDR podcast, Kubin reassembles old tapes he’d recorded of Klaus Wellershaus’ radio shows into banging collages of sound. Back in the day Wellershaus was one of the primary champions of the then modern sound of punk, post-punk and outsider electronics in Germany. His shows were one of the things that inspired Kubin to get into musical experimentation in the first place. Listen here for some inspired sounds from the ’80s German underground, compiled with typical Kubin-ian playfulness.
