This Map Shows Which German Clubs Are Closed For Summer
Check out a handy guide to navigate an often inconvenient German tradition.
Summer is often thought of as peak party season. Warmer temperatures entice bodies to leave the house more; open-airs and festivals provide a good opportunity to go on a rare adventure; the long sunlight hours make it feel like daytime till 10 PM. And yet in Germany it’s common for nightclubs to pick exactly this season to board up shop and hibernate till fall. For some, it’s simply too hot to operate, while for others in smaller cities it can be hard to get by with so many people on holiday, including a core clubbing contingent of university students. And, of course, some club proprietors just need a break like everybody else.
Lest you show up at your favorite venue only to find that nobody’s home, Thump has prepared a handy visual guide that shows who’s open and who’s taking a “sommerpause” (“summer break”)—click here to see it. Some of our favorites are still open, including Telekom Electronic Beats Clubnight venues like Stuttgart‘s White Noise and MMA and Blitz in Munich. As for other partners, such as Klub Neu and Institut für Zukunft—well, we’ll have to see them in the fall, when they’ll be back in action with new Clubnights on the books. Stay tuned for our fall program!
