On his new album, Rogue Intruder, Soul Enhancer, the Stockholm-based producer crafts swung, syncopated rhythms and hazy atmospheres that eschew peak-time intensity or tension in favor of a hypnotic, time-dilating effect.
Clever use of time-stretching and delays give Rogue Intruder, Soul Enhancer a meditative feel that makes its disembodied vocal chops, crisp percussion and playful samples—including ringtones, radios and ASMR-inducing pencil strokes—pop that much more. It’s unique vibe—think dub techno, plane travel and video game loading screens—that you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else.
