The UK dance music icon digs deep into the archives for a special new series of EPs.
Record diggers and archive obsessives alike, beware: There’s only expensive news past this point.
Okay, you were duly warned. Over a series of nine weeks beginning July 22, Trevor Jackson will release nine, vinyl-only EPs of previously unreleased Playgroup material.
The Previously Unreleased EPs will be pressed in extremely limited edition runs—only 250 of each record in the series.
Alongside Jackson’s own material, the comps feature guest spots from EDMX, members of Crash Course In Science and even a young Four Tet playing guitar on the final EP’s lead track.
Jackson describes the series as being inspired by “the sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger.” You can just about smell that cocktail being made, can’t you? While the records aren’t coppable yet, you can at least listen to the preview megamix above.
Watch Trevor Jackson interview NYC garage legend Todd Terry here and then read his Rewind of golden era rap.
